About the event
Keep on keeping on …
when the road is long…
Have you been feeling isolated and or experiencing mental health concerns after having had or continuing to have long Covid?
Poetry Workshop
For those suffering with post-acute or “long Covid”
Professor Maria Figueredo (a long-standing poet, scholar and community events organizer) will share her experiences with long Covid and some poetic tools to help heal, manage and express what it is to live with this health situation.
Some of the themes will include:
◦ Learning to express and accept pacing oneself with the new possibilities or limits on energy levels, post-Covid
◦ Exploring poetry to help express what we may not even want to express to ourselves
◦ Coping with brain fog issues and the stress of feeling rushed when we can’t keep up the pace we had “before”
◦ Creative approaches for balancing our health in physical, emotional and spiritual ways
◦ Using mythical and goddess imagery to transcend symptoms
◦ Translating pain and other discomfort into words that uplift rather than limit
◦ Shedding the embarrassment and “voiceless-ness” of not being able to keep up with “normal” paces of the world
◦ Finding the courage to rest and recover
◦ Seeking humour to foster resilience and alleviate emotional & physical pain
◦ Receiving support and validation for what you’re going through
◦ Celebrating the small wins together!
